After what feels like a cathedral-length construction project (though thankfully not the 600 years it took to build some of these buildings), we're delighted to announce the Church Index blog is officially open.

We've spent months documenting spires, admiring rose windows, and developing a probably-too-strong opinion about flying buttresses. Now it's time to share our passion for sacred architecture with you - no prior knowledge of Gothic vault construction required, though we won't judge if you have it.

Churches, cathedrals, chapels, and basilicas represent some of humanity's most ambitious architectural achievements. When medieval builders decided to create spaces that would inspire awe and reach toward the heavens, they weren't thinking small. They were thinking "let's stack stones so high that people 800 years from now will still be impressed." And honestly? Mission accomplished.
