The Marienkapelle is a Roman Catholic chapel located at the Unterer Markt of Würzburg, Bavaria.

History

• Built in the Gothic style in the 14th century, the Marienkapelle was constructed during a period of significant architectural innovation.
• Despite its large size, it remains a chapel by status, as it does not have a parish.
• The chapel's history is marked by two major events: the Bombing of Würzburg in World War II and its subsequent rebuilding.

Following the war, the interior of the chapel was destroyed by flames, leaving it severely damaged. In the 1950s, the chapel was rebuilt, and it was re-consecrated in 1962.
