The Hervormde kerk
The Hervormde kerk (Dutch for "Reformed Church") is a church located in the town of Elim, which is part of the municipality of Hoogeveen in the province of Drenthe, Netherlands. The church was built in 1884 as a replacement for an earlier church that had been destroyed by fire.
It is a beautiful example of Neo-Gothic architecture and features a striking tower with a distinctive clock face.
- The congregation is part of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN), which has its roots in the Reformation movement led by John Calvin.
- Services are held regularly at the Hervormde kerk, including Sunday morning worship services and weekday evening prayer meetings. Visitors are welcome to attend services and join in the community's spiritual life.
The church is also home to a number of community activities, including children's clubs, youth groups, and adult Bible studies. Additionally, the Hervormde kerk has a historic cemetery where many of the town's residents are buried.
