The Sint-Antoniuskerk

The Sint-Antoniuskerk is a beautiful Catholic church located at Kamerlingswijk Westzijde 136, 7894 AR Zwartemeer, Netherlands. The church was built in the 20th century and has a modern architectural style. It's known for its stunning stained-glass windows and impressive organ.

The church serves as a community hub, hosting various events and services throughout the year. Visitors can admire the beautiful architecture, pray, or attend mass at this sacred place of worship.

  1. The Sint-Antoniuskerk is a neogotisch kerkgebouw in the Drentse dorp Zwartemeer, built from 1920-21 according to the design of Joh. H. Sluijmer.
  2. As the town of Zwartemeer grew northwards, the church found itself increasingly outside the village, which led to the construction of the Verrijzeniskerk in 1969.

The parochie used the Antoniuskerk sporadically for special occasions after this, but in 1981 the church was sold. After years of use for various purposes, the building was purchased by a private individual in 1996 who allowed it to be used as a church again.

  • In 2000, an exposition featuring harmoniums was held for three months. The organization behind the event went on to establish the Harmonium Museum Nederland at Veenpark in Barger-Compascuum.
  • Although this museum was closed in 2024, the collection was transferred to the Geelvinck Museum.
