Sint-Martinuskerk
Sint-Martinuskerk is a church located in Baak, Netherlands, situated on Pastoriestraat, a street in the heart of Baak, a small town in the municipality of Bronckhorst, Gelderland province, Netherlands.
The church is a Roman Catholic church built in the neogotische style and was constructed between 1890 and 1891 according to the design of Alfred Tepe. The construction of the church was made possible by a donation from Ernest Willem Franciscus Canisius van der Heijden.
In 1891, the church was consecrated by Archbishop Petrus Matthias Snickers of Utrecht and was dedicated as Martinus van Tours. The church replaced the nearby Sint-Martinuskerk that was built in 1772-1773, possibly designed by Teunis Wittenberg, architect of the Kwartier van Zutphen, and was enlarged in 1836.
The church is designed as a pseudobasiliek and features a small directly above the entrance, followed by a larger variant. The kerktoren has an ingesnoerde torenspits. Two kapelletjes are situated on either side of the entrance. The side walls feature spitsboogvensters with glas in loodramen, which are also incorporated into the transept.
The interior is decorated according to the Utrechtse School. A historic organ from 1788 is present in the church, originally built by Abraham Meere for the kerk De Liefde in Amsterdam and later restored and placed in Sint-Martinuskerk by Gradussen. The church was designated as a rijksmonument in 1976.
