De Sint-Servaasbasiliek

De Sint-Servaasbasiliek (Limburgs: Sintervaosbasiliek, of kortweg Sintervaos) is een kerkgebouw in het centrum van de Nederlandse stad Maastricht. Het gebouwencomplex is gelegen tussen drie pleinen: het Vrijthof, het Keizer Karelplein en het Henric van Veldekeplein.

1. Nach men aanneemt, gebouwd op het graf van Sint-Servaas en wordt beschouwd als de oudste nog bestaande kerk van Nederland.
2. De nog bestaande grotendeels romaanse, driebeukige kruisbasiliek uit de elfde en twaalfde eeuw is opgetrokken uit kolenzandsteen, mergel en andere natuursteen.

The voormalige pelgrims- en kapittelkerk fungeert sinds het begin van de negentiende eeuw als parochiekerk van de rooms-katholieke Sint-Servaasparochie en is tevens dekenaatskerk van Maastricht. Sinds 1985 voert de kerk de titel basilica minor („basiliek”). De basiliek is een rijksmonument en behoort tot de 'Top 100 van de Rijksdienst voor de Monumentenzorg' uit 1990.
