About the Church's History

De Sint-Petrusbasiliek te Boxtel is a late Gothic cruciform church built in the 15th and 16th centuries. The church is built on a kerkheuvel, which is an artificial hill originally owned by the Lord of Boxtel.

• This artificial hill was necessary because the area where the church was built was too marshy due to its location near the Dommel.
