The Oude Kerk (Old Church)

The Oude Kerk is a historic church located in the center of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The church was built in the 14th century and has undergone several renovations and expansions over the centuries.

• Construction began: 1306, took around 50 years to complete.
• Initially, the church was a Roman Catholic parish church, but was converted into a Reformed Church (Dutch Protestant) in 1578 during the Dutch Reformation.

In the 17th century, the church underwent significant renovations, including the addition of a new tower and the installation of stained glass windows. During World War II, the church suffered damage from bombing raids. It was subsequently restored and is now a popular tourist destination.
