Immanuelkerk
The Immanuelkerk is a church located in the city of Veldhoven, North Brabant, Netherlands.
The Immanuelkerk (English: Church of Emmanuel) was built in 1924 as a replacement for the previous church that stood on the same site since 1880.
The new church was designed by architect Jos de Jager and took about two years to complete.
It was consecrated on October 12, 1925.
- A striking example of neo-gothic architecture, characterized by its red brick façade with pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and a soaring tower.
- The church's design was inspired by the great Gothic cathedrals of Europe.
- The building features stained glass windows, intricate stone carvings, and ornate wooden pews.
Notable Features
- Tower: The 65-meter-tall (213 ft) tower is one of the church's most prominent features. It offers stunning views of the surrounding area.
- Stained glass windows: The church boasts beautiful stained glass windows designed by local artist Jan Schollaardt. These windows depict biblical scenes and symbolize the light of God.
- Wooden pews: The ornate wooden pews are a striking feature inside the church. They were crafted by Dutch woodcarvers and display intricate designs.
- Organs: The Immanuelkerk is home to two organs, including a large pipe organ built in 1926.
The Immanuelkerk is an active place of worship, with regular Sunday services and other events throughout the year. The church is part of the Protestant Reformed Churches (Gereformeerde Kerken) denomination.
