The Protestantse Kerk
The Protestantse Kerk is a church located at Kloosterweg 2 in Egmond-Binnen, Netherlands.
The church was built in 1836 on the site of the Buurkerk, one of two churches that remained standing after the destruction of the St-Adelbertabdij in 1573. Some of the old abbey church's wallwork has been used in the current church.
- Buurkerk: The church was designed by Hermanus Hendrik Dansdorp, a supervisor at Rijkswaterstaat, for the Dutch Reformed Church.
- The nearby St-Adelbertabdij purchased the church and surrounding grounds on September 18, 2020, regaining possession of its ancient lands and archaeological remains.
The church features a cabinet organ by J.P. Hilgers from 1762, originally from the Slotkapel in Egmond aan den Hoef. A bell by François Hemony from 1661 hangs in the clock tower.
- In 1914-15, the church was torn down to just above ground level and rebuilt.
- The church underwent restoration work in 1933.
Since 1968, the church building, including its grounds and grave monument, has been registered as a national monument.
