The Oosterkerk
The Oosterkerk is a historic church located in the city of Hoorn, Netherlands. The church was built in the 17th century and features a unique blend of Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles. The church was originally built as a Catholic cathedral but was later converted into a Protestant church during the Dutch Golden Age.
The building is characterized by its striking tower, which rises to a height of 74 meters (243 feet). The interior of the church features a beautiful organ and a number of notable art pieces, including paintings and sculptures from the Baroque period. The Oosterkerk has been well-preserved and is now considered one of the most important cultural monuments in the Netherlands.
Visitors to the church can climb to the top of the tower for stunning views of Hoorn and the surrounding area. The church also features a wooden protective box that houses the tower mechanism from the clock room on the attic. The box bears the inscription:

The Oosterkerk's present appearance dates back to 1616, while its origins date back to 1450.
