The Church of Our Lady's Birth

The Church of Our Lady's Birth is a beautiful Baroque-style church located in Uitgeest, Netherlands. Its name refers to the birth of the Virgin Mary, which is celebrated on September 8th.

In 1882, a new church was built on the site of an older waterstaatskerk, which was demolished in 1884. The current building is dedicated to Maria Geboorte (Birth of Mary) and features a three-aisled pseudobasilica-style cruciform plan with five bays in the nave.

The architect responsible for designing the church is Evert Margry, who designed the structure in neo-Gothic style. The exterior of the church has been largely preserved in its original state, as have the interior details, such as the wood carvings and stained-glass windows.

In 2000, the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe-Geboortekerk was designated a national monument, recognizing its cultural significance and architectural value. Today, the church remains an important place of worship for the Parochie Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe-Geboorte Langebuurt community and hosts various local events, concerts, and cultural activities.
