The Hervormde Kerk

The Hervormde Kerk, also known as the Reformed Church, is located at Kerkebuurt 16, 1674 ND Opperdoes, Netherlands.

The church dates back to the 14th century, with the original building constructed around 1350. Over the centuries, it has undergone several renovations and expansions.

In the 17th century, the church became part of the Dutch Reformed Church (Hervormde Kerk), a Protestant denomination.
The current building is largely a result of the 19th-century renovation, which combined Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles.
The striking tower and nave are adorned with wooden pews and ornate decorations.

The church houses several historical artifacts, including ancient stone carvings and stained-glass windows. These features make the Hervormde Kerk an active place of worship and community gathering for residents of Opperdoes and surrounding areas.

In fact, the Hervormde Kerk in Opperdoes was built around 1530, although worship services were held on the site even earlier.
The current church is a replacement for one that was plundered by Grote Pier in 1517. The tower dates back to 1525.

Today, the Hervormde Kerk is only used for special occasions, as the weekly Sunday services are held at the Gereformeerde Kerk aan het Noorderpad instead.
