The church was built in the 19th century and is named after Saint Willibrord, a famous missionary who worked in the region. The building has a Gothic Revival style, with a striking tower that rises above the surrounding landscape. The interior of the church features stunning stained-glass windows and intricate stone carvings.

  • The church tower stands at 50 meters (164 feet) tall.
  • The stained-glass windows were designed by a local artist and depict scenes from the Bible.
  1. The Sint-Willibrorduskerk is a Roman Catholic church in the Dutch town of Vierakker.
  2. The neo-Gothic church was built in 1869-1870 according to the design by H.J. Wennekers, who was advised by Gerard van Heukelum, founder of the St. Bernulphusgilde and proponent of the Utrechtse School.
  3. For the construction of the church, funds were made available by Alexander Baron van der Heijden van Doornenburg, resident of the nearby estate 't Suideras, so that his wife, who was in poor health, would not have to make the journey to the Sint-Martinuskerk in Baak.

The church was built as a hallenkerk. Above the entrance is a large pointed arch window with glass in leadwork, which is decorated as a whole with an archivolt. The tower spire is equipped with a conical spire with a weather vane on top. The clock that has been installed on the tower was made by bellfoundry Eijsbouts. The church tower is accompanied by a multi-sided stair tower. The windows in the side walls are also equipped with glass in leadwork, which has been incorporated into pointed arch windows. With the glass in leadwork, biblical stories are depicted.

Against the south side is a separate chapel built with a choir. The chapel is completed on the outside by two pointed gable ends, where glass in leadwork windows have been incorporated, with a stair tower between them that protrudes above the roofs.

In the church there is an organ by Gerardus Elberink from 1873. A large number of other interior components, such as altars, religious figures, the pulpit and communion bench, were designed by Friedrich Wilhelm Mengelberg. The roof is supported by cross-rib vaults. The floor is equipped with tilework, which contains various images. So in the side aisles are animals that depict the deadly sins. As lighting, oil lamps have been chosen, accompanied by eight crown lights.

The church was restored from 2000 to 2009, with the original design as a starting point. In a voting in 2011, the Sint Willibrorduskerk was elected as the most beautiful church of Gelderland. The church was designated as a national monument in 1976.
