The Sint-Willibrorduskerk

The Sint-Willibrorduskerk is a Roman Catholic church located in Rhoon, Netherlands. The church was built in 1893 and serves as a place of worship for Roman Catholics living in Rhoon and surrounding areas.

It is a neo-Gothic building with a rectangular shape and a tower at the western end. The church has a gabled roof and a tall spire above the main entrance.

  1. The Sint-Willibrorduskerk was originally built in the 15th century, but it was lost during the Reformation when it was taken over by Protestants.
  2. Catholic services were then held in secret until they gained their own church in 1857. However, this building had to be replaced just a few decades later.

The current church was built between 1893 and 1894. Architect Adrianus Bleijs designed the church as a one-nave hall church with a pastorie in neo-Gothic style.

  • The nave has five bays with a five-sided closed presbytery.
  • Above the main entrance is a bell tower.

Inside, the church is covered with a wooden ribbed vault. The Sint-Willibrorduskerk has a beautiful stained-glass window and a wooden organ. It also features a statue of Saint Willibrord, the church's patron saint.

The church stands at an impressive height of approximately 55 meters (180 feet) with its belltower.

The religion practiced at the Sint-Willibrorduskerk is Roman Catholicism, under the parish of HH. Nicolaas Pieck en Gezellen.
