Noordervermaning Church

History:

  • The church was built in 1695 and is therefore the oldest church building of the Reformed Congregations.
  • It was recognized as a national monument in 1976.
  • In the church, a house mark (Letters and Merck of the Builders of this Church) from 1695 can be seen, which is also considered to be the year of construction.
  • The wooden church building survived the village fires in 1737 and 1741.

Architecture:

  • Around 1860, the building at J.J. Allanstraat received a stone façade with rose windows.
  • Fifteen years later, the first organ was installed, built by the firm L. van Dam & Zonen from Leeuwarden for the sum of f 2,072.45.
