- The church was built in 1695 and is therefore the oldest church building of the Reformed Congregations.
- It was recognized as a national monument in 1976.
- In the church, a house mark (Letters and Merck of the Builders of this Church) from 1695 can be seen, which is also considered to be the year of construction.
- The wooden church building survived the village fires in 1737 and 1741.

- Fifteen years later, the first organ was installed, built by the firm L. van Dam & Zonen from Leeuwarden for the sum of f 2,072.45.
