- In the 17th century, it became a Lutheran church after the Reformation, and today it serves as an Evangelical-Lutheran parish.

- The church's exterior has a simple, unadorned façade, which was common in medieval Dutch architecture.
- The interior features a nave with wooden pews and a chancel with an ornate altar and pulpit.
The church's tower is slightly taller than the nave and has a characteristic Gothic-style spire.
- The Brandpunt Church has a unique "starry night" ceiling, which was painted in 1952 by local artist Henk-Jan van der Meer.
- The church's bell dates back to 1553 and is one of the oldest in the Netherlands.
- The building is used by the Ecumenical Fellowship "The Brandpunt", which was established in 1990 and comprises Netherlands Reformed, Reformed (since 2004 united with the Protestant Church in the Netherlands) and Roman Catholic churches working together and holding joint services.
- The church is a hall church with an elliptical floor plan in modernist style.
- Notable features are the wooden roofs with overhanging curved awnings.
- The church has an auditorium with 400 seats and several auxiliary rooms, including a quiet center.
In 2014, the church celebrated its 700th anniversary with a series of events and renovations.
