The church, dedicated to Saint James, was created a civil parish in 1866 from the chapelry of Long Sutton. Historically, the church's chancel and tower were disconnected due to the destruction of the nave during the Interregnum.

Architecture

• The parish church is an unusual example of a disconnected chancel and tower, with the nave having been destroyed during the Interregnum. The Grade II* listed tower dates from the 15th century, with restorations in 1879 and 1894. The Grade II listed chancel also dates from the 15th century, with an extension added in the 20th century.

Notable Features

• The church features a 14th-century butter cross, St Ives Cross, which stands at the junction of four roads west of the village. Only four steps and 12 inches of the shaft remain. The base of another cross, located near Old Fen Dyke, is believed to be a market cross and is scheduled and Grade II listed.
